Women’s Retreat/Day of Reflection

Rest, Renew, and Rejoice

“May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”   -1 Thessalonians 5:23

In this passage, St. Paul calls the faithful to nourish all aspects of their God created being: mind, spirit, and yes, even their bodies. Often, women of faith or lay ministers let their own well-being take a back seat as they focus on and minister to others. But how can we love and take care of others if we don’t first love and take care of ourselves? This powerful retreat explores practical ways to encourage attendees to develop healthy habits to take care of their mental, spiritual, and physical well-being. It offers inspiring suggestions to help them rest, so that they can renew, and then rejoice in mind, body and spirit giving praise to their Creator, the one loving God!

Participants will explore ways to:

  • Be still to rest their mind.
  • Sit with the ups and downs of life to rest their soul.
  • Honor and care for their earthly vessel so that they are ready for God’s work.
  • Renew their mind and spirit with gratitude and forgiveness.
  • To rejoice in our Lord with prayer, laughter, song, and worship.

Dr. Mel facilitates the group in an interactive presentation. Her thoughtful and practical approach has helped the faithful across the country become more in tune with their self-care and deepen their spiritual journey.

This presentation is offered as a one-day or weekend retreat. It is also available as a breakout session.

“The care that you give to the sick, so demanding and engaging, requires that you also take care of yourself,”

-Pope Francis

Pope Francis urged health care workers to take care of themselves. Mel believes that this pertains to all believers. But, in particular, women and lay ministers who work diligently for their families, church, and community. Her unique approach of encompassing story, scripture, song, reflection, laughter, prayer and activity empowers the participants to confidently embrace self-care as a way of caring for others.

Rest, Renew, and Rejoice  (click link to see the promo video) is Dr. Mel’s featured talk for this year. It is a engaging presentation that will benefit any women’s group or parish community. Her stipend for this event is $400-$900 (depending on type of presentation) plus travel. To book Mel or to get information on other topics available, please contact us.
